The importance of creativity... We seriously encou The importance of creativity... We seriously encourage creativity at Jd... why? Anyone can come to a class and be shown what to do, but to have the confidence to create, to be yourself, to experiment, to try new things without the fear of what if I go wrong? This is all next level. The ability to freestyle is a pure gift and something that everyone can do, something we encourage constantly and we LOVE to see creativity. Our competition dancers never have a set solo even the 5 year olds, we teach them to freestyle from the very beginning. The first time we did something like this and it was so good to have the full school involved in competing. It was new to so many and just getting up there to compete was a huge step. The first thing that kicked off our academic year was the can you dance mega crew. I really love this event, we do it every 2 years and it brings together so many of our dancers from different classes who wouldn't usually dance together, they take part in workshops on the day and the stage and tech is amazing! Drill- drills are amazing to perfect those foundat Drill- drills are amazing to perfect those foundations repeat- being consistent is going to be the key to your progression create- be creative, be original. Record- film yourself, it's an amazing tool to look back and see what works and what needs more work. Perform- show how much you love to dance through your performance. Make people want to watch you ❤️
Well the answer to that question is how much do yo Well the answer to that question is how much do you want to improve? Practice once a week get once a week improvement... but imagine if you practice everyday.. even if it's just for 10-15 minutes it would make a huge difference. Don't judge yourself, explore with different styles, concepts, music. Dance for the love of it and the results will follow.
The next step to level up...once you've got those The next step to level up...once you've got those foundations down.... keep training the foundations 🤪 never stop! And when your training listen to that music!!! Musicality is so important, listen for the beats, the accents, the lyrics, those special moments. Learn how music works so whatever track is played you know you can hit every single beat. Listen to different music, practice to different music and enjoy the music ❤️

But it's talked about for a reason... without the foundation what do you have? No foundation to a building? that's going to fall down! And the same applies to your dance. House, popping, hip hop... whatever your style know the foundations, the groove, the history. Pick a style and really study it. Go back to basics!

In May our past student and teacher @jaymayor_ will be heading to Miami as he has been booked as a dancer for royal Caribbean cruise ships. The start of his professional career and we are so proud. We will certainly be missing Jay and his amazing input he has in the dance school. Don't panic though, he will be back! We have a street dance class for all ages 5 times We have a street dance class for all ages 5 times a week! Weekends are saved for extra training, workshops and performance and competition opportunities. Top tip! One class isn't enough, get yourself to an extra class through the week to level up and also so you don't miss us too much 🤪
